BEN PORTSMOUTH – TAKING CARE OF ELVIS
In August 2012 Ben Portsmouth made history when he won the Elvis Presley Enterprises “Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest” in Memphis where he was crowned the “Worldwide Ultimate ETA”, the first non-American to win this prestigious title. His success led to offers from promoters across the world and Ben and the Taking Care of Elvis Band have done numerous tours of many countries including Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Chile, Europe and the UK.
Undoubtedly one of the highlights of Ben’s career to date was appearing live on the Late Show with David Letterman in New York in February 2013. Ben was honoured to be asked to headline “Elvis Week” on the Late Show and perform one of his personal favourites “An American Trilogy”. Letterman’s reaction to Ben’s amazing performance says it all!
Ben has also had the honour and the pleasure of singing on the same stage as Elvis at the International Hotel in Las Vegas (now the Westgate Las Vegas). As you can imagine this was an experience that Ben will treasure for many years to come.
There was only one Elvis, but Ben, who is a huge Elvis fan, is the closest you will ever get in terms of Elvis’s looks, his singing voice and on stage charisma. Ben’s not just taking care of Elvis, he’s preserving his legacy and reintroducing him to the world in the most authentic way, or to quote the King “My Way”.
